Optimize Your
CV
Your curriculum vitae is an important element in your quest for a new
position. Below you will find
information to assist you in the proper writing or procurement
of your CV.
5
Steps To An Effective CV
- Keep It simple.
A clean, simple easy to read CV will definitely be a bonus.
Use words most efficiently by condensing and combing
sentences. All that is really necessary on the CV itself is
your factual and statistical information. The particulars of
the position should be addressed in the cover letter.
- Keep It Less than 3 Pages.
CV's that are longer than 3 pages are far less effective
than shorter ones and much more likely to be read in their
entirety.
- Include Detailed
Background Info
Don't forget to include your detailed background
information, i.e., marital status, all certifications, etc.
- Use Large Print
Don't be tempted to use smaller print in an effort to put
more on a page. Larger print is generally appreciated by all
and certainly easier to read.
- Proofread!
Ask others to proofread your CV, as well. A CV with spelling
or grammatical errors is an unnecessary embarrassment. Your
computer's Spellchecker will allow "led" and "lead," so don't
rely solely on that to keep your CV error-free. Check it
manually as well, proofing carefully and thoroughly.
